Abstract:
Nine lithologically based formations are formally introduced for the Jurassic rocks of the Murihiku Supergroup. Tuffaceous sandstones with laumontite present are reported 2950 metres above the base of the Jurassic sequence. Provenance for the sediments and a palaeotectonic environment is postulated.
